GRACIE TROTTER RETURNS TO ORANGE COUNTY SPEEDWAY SEEKING FIRST SLM VICTORY
Thursday, September 6th, 2018
(Denver, NC) September 5, 2018 (for immediate release):
Rookie Super Late Model driver Gracie Trotter is seeking her first SLM win in her 9th start of the season in her TRD/Calico Coatings Toyota Camry this Saturday, September 8 in the CARS Tour Thrifty Tire-Puryear Tank Lines 300 at Orange County Speedway in Rougemont, NC.
The newly-minted 17-year old has enjoyed her previous two starts here. Gracie’s goal for this Saturday is to finish higher than her qualifying position, just as she did in her previous appearance here in April. In the CARS tour Mid-Atlantic Classic on April 21, Gracie qualified in 20th position and moved up 10 spots for her second top-10 finish at the track in as many starts, with her SLM debut in June of 2017 ending with an impressive 8th place finish. With each start, she learns more about the nuances of the 3/8 mile oval. “From previous races I’ve learned that the line changes a bit throughout the race, and to pass cars there you have to follow them in the corner and get (the other cars) off, because it’s difficult to pass going in (with) no fast line down low on the entries of the corners,” Gracie explained.
Currently sitting at 6th in the PASS South Tour points standings, Gracie is relentless in her drive to gain valuable experience by racing in both PASS South and CARS Super Late Model series. To prepare for her return to Orange County, she’s been continuing her daily practice sessions on iRacing. “They don’t have Orange County on there, but I’ve been practicing at Pensacola because it’s similar to OCS. I’ve been practicing being consistent and smooth with my steering and braking,” Gracie said.
This will be Gracie’s first race at Orange County Speedway with a “built” motor in the Bond Suss-prepared machine. “I’m focusing on focusing on being consistent and finding speed with the new motor,” said Gracie. “I have to change my habits, and will be focusing on perfecting that.”
Gracie will test at Orange County on Thursday, with official practice Friday afternoon/evening, and single-car qualifying at 5:45 PM Saturday. The Thrifty Tire-Puryear Tank Lines 300 goes green at 7:30 PM ET on September 8.
